This dictionary will assist you to understand the meaning of various words and what do we mean when referring to them:

Representative
It means the member of the Fund elected by each hotel in accordance with the provisions of Regulation (16) of the Articles of Association, to represent the members at the General Meetings of the Fund.

Management Committee
It means the Management Committee of the Hotel Employees Provident Fund which is incorporated as specified in the relevant Regulation of the Articles of Association.

Labour Tribunal
It means the establishment of Labour Tribunal and includes all its departments pursuant to Section (12) of the Annual Paid leaves Law of 1967 until 1980.

Contribution
It means the contribution made by the Employers to the Provident Fund in accordance with the provisions of Regulation (8) of the Articles of Association.
 

Employer
It means any employer –businessman of the Hotel Industry who contributes to the Fund pursuant to these Regulations.

Registrar
It means the appointed, in accordance with Section (3) of the Provident Fund Law of 1981, Registrar of the Provident Funds.

Regulations
It means the Regulations made by the Council of Ministers pursuant to the Provident Fund Law.

Articles of Association
It means the regulations and terms specifying the details for the operation of the Hotel Employees Provident Fund.

Deduction
It means the deduction from the payment of the emoluments of the employee or worker as contribution of the member to the Provident Fund in accordance with the provisions of regulation (8.1) of the Articles of Association.

Account “A” – Deductions
It means the Account of each Member kept in the Accounts of the Provident Fund, to which the deductions from the emolument of such Member are credited each time.

Account “B" - Contribution of the Employer
It means the account of each member kept in the accounts of the Provident Find to which the contributions of the Employers of the Hotel Industry are credited each time.

Account of Special Fund
It means the Account which shall be credited with any amount not resulting from the deductions made to the emolument of the Members or from the contributions of Employers.
 

Member 
It means any employee of the Hotel Industry or of the Organizations referred to in the present regulations who comply with the conditions of regulations (6.1) to (6.6) of the Articles of Association and who paid or pays or in favour of whom were paid or are paid contributions to the Fund provided that such employee is a member in accordance with such regulations.
 

Register
It means the register of the Provident Fund which is kept pursuant to section 4 of the Provident Fund Law.

Salary or wage
It means the employee as per the meaning provided by the Social Insurance Law of 1980.

Hotel Industry or Hotel
It means any hotel of one to five stars or tourist village or organized apartments of A or B category or Deluxe or other type of accommodation that hold a license in accordance with the Hotel and Tourist Establishments Law of 1969-1992 or any other law that may amend or replace it.

The Provident Fund Law
It means the Provident Fund Laws of 1981 to 1995 or any other laws amending or replacing them.

Fund
It means the Provident Fund of the Members with registered name “Hotel Employees Provident Fund”.

Service
It means the continuous and uninterrupted service in the Hotel Industry, excluding the service abroad.

Minister
It means the Minister of Labour and Social Insurance.
 

Benefit
It means the benefit paid by the Provident Fund in accordance with these Regulations.
